For you created my inmost being: you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalms 139:13-14
Are you the kind of person who considers your birthday a special day and makes the most of it? Or did you stop celebrating your birthday and just let it pass like any other day?
In the past I would allow my birthday to pass without a second thought. I only recently changed that. I now celebrate not only the day of my birth, but often the entire week as well.
I learned to see myself through God’s eyes. If each of us could see ourselves through our maker, we would know that we have infinite reasons to celebrate our birth. God made each of us for a special purpose, and without each of us individually, the world would not be as it is. Something would be missing without you. God rejoices over you and wants us to do the same.
Celebrating another year of life is a way of honoring God and thanking Him for the gift of breath that he has given us. Why not celebrate that God kept your heart beating 38 million times throughout the past year? Why not celebrate that He protected you and provided for you and continues to love you every minute you are alive?
Pray Today: Lord, thank you for your grace, mercy, and loving us even when we don’t love ourselves or deserve it. Thank you for my life and the life you give others through me. Amen.
